Xavier Leconte, Le Charme d’Anais Millésime 2020

$98.00

Only the best chardonnay grapes were selected to create this cuvée. Elegant, fine and floral, it is just like Anaïs Leconte.

Composition

100% Chardonnay grapes from the plot of “Les Longues Raies”, this champagne is vinified in stainless steal and oak barrels. It is aged on lees 5 years minimum with a dosage of 7g/l.

When to drink

Ideally served at 10°C in a curved flute, it reveals its full aromatic complexity. As an aperitif, delicately spiced gougères highlight its gourmand character. At the table, it pairs beautifully with curry prawns or carrot–orange velouté, as well as celery–lemon variations. It also complements tender fish with refined sauces such as Dieppoise or Armoricaine, and the most delicate cuts of white meats (chicken, veal or pork) prepared in creamy sauces with a subtle exotic touch.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows a luminous golden hue, subtly streaked with pale green highlights.

The nose is intensely aromatic and mature, revealing cooked fruit notes (mirabelle and pineapple) lifted by delicate vanilla. With aeration, hints of hazelnut, candied fruit and melted butter emerge, touched by a whisper of mango. A rich, enveloping and subtly exotic bouquet.

The supple, caressing attack leads into a broad, structured palate. The perfectly integrated effervescence weaves harmoniously with the acidity, enhancing the cuvée’s depth and fullness. Its silky, creamy texture evokes cashmere. On the palate, the exotic richness of pineapple and mango echoes the nose, carried by a warm, enveloping feel.

Meet the Grower: Champagne Xavier Leconte

Located in the Marne Valley area of Champagne, France. In 1870 Onésime Leconte began as a champagne grower. Xavier Leconte, now the fifth generation, oversees 10 hectares (24.7 acres). In 2003, Alexis, Xavier’s son, joined the legacy. He preserves the soil and produces real “Terroir” wines. The house relies on 40 small plots spread over several villages in the valley for their wines.

Like his grandfather, also a keen practitioner of natural methods, Alexis follows the phases of the moon, applying techniques based on the cycle of the Earth, increasing sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint.

Alexis follows the house style developed by his predecessors to produce wines of great quality, whilst ensuring he nurtures the land for the generations to come.
