Champagne A&S Boever, 1865, Extra Brut Grand Cru, Vintage 2015, Blanc de Noirs

$160.00

A fine Pinot Noir base made from aged vines in a limited numbered series of 700 bottles.

Composition

1865 refers to the year the Boever ancestor settled in Champagne. And as a tribute to their history, the Boever family have created an exceptional champagne, seeking the purity and strength of old vines (over 50 years old) of their favourite grape variety, the Pinot Noir.
This is a limited series of 700 numbered bottles.

Cuvée 1865 was made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the vintage of 2015, aged 10 months in oak barrels.

This champagne is dosed at 5g/L, therefore an extra-brut champagne.

When to drink

Champagne can be aged up to 20 years. 1865 millésime 2015 champagne can be savoured now or within the next 10-12 years.

We prefer this champagne as a stand alone before a meal to fully enjoy the earthy and woody pallet of this champagne’s long lasting mouth.

Tasting Notes

The Cuvée 1865 Blanc de Noirs – white juice from black grapes – is made 100% black Pinot Noir grapes. Pinot noir will give more strawberry and white raspberry flavors. The passage in oak barrels gives it a leather, earthy and wooden mouth and nose that are unique to those who like a fuller champagne that still bears the crisp nature of a champagne from the Montagne de Reims area – where Pinot Noir grapes are largely grown.
