Colin Cuvée Parallele Extra Brut NV Premier Cru

Dry and mineral champagne, this rare and delicate Cuvée Extra Brut is made from a blend of the finest Chardonnays from Champagne Colin’s Premier Cru vineyard.

100% Chardonnay from the villages of Vertus and Bergères-lès-Vertus Premier Cru. Vinified through malolactic fermentation, this cuvée Parallèle is aged for at least 30 months in the cellars and for 6 months after disgorging.  Blended with 60% “solera” continuous reserve wine and 40% of the year’s wine. Dosed at 3g/L,, this champagne is Extra Brut.

When to drink

This cuvée displays a strong personality and will be appreciated by palates seeking authenticity. Its minerality makes it the ideal companion for shellfish. This extremely fine, pure and natural champagne is also perfect as an aperitif.

Tasting Notes

A pale golden robe, delicate effervescence and fine bubbles. The nose: candid and expressive, a bouquet of blossom. The mouth is full-bodied, mineral and taut. Hints of biscuit in a crisp, savoury atmosphere, enhanced by the low dose of sugar.

Meet the Grower: Champagne Colin

Women pioneered the Colin Champagne vineyard, which is now run by brothers Richard and Romain Colin. The passion for vines and wine began with their grandmothers Geneviève Prieur and Marie Louise Radet who both inherited vines from their parents. But the family’s first winegrower dates back to 1829 with Constant Piéton, the great grandfather of Geneviève Prieur, Richard’s and Romain’s maternal grandmother.

The harvest, hand-picked when the grapes reach perfect maturity, is then taken to a traditional wooden Coquard press as well as a pneumatic press on the property. A few months in casks give the wines time to oxygenate slowly.

At Champagne Colin, the wines are aged on the lees for at least double the minimum time required and for more than 6 months after disgorgement. Each plot is vinified separately to allow each of our terroirs to fully express its character. Thanks to these traditional methods tending vines and crafting wines, Champagne Colin champagnes are marked by finesse and elegance, and typical of the Côte des Blancs’ greatest vineyards.

The Estate

Most of the 10-hectare estate is planted with Chardonnay – the king of grape varieties in the Blanc de blancs area of Champagne, France – in the prestigious Côte des Blancs in Vertus, Bergères-les-Vertus and Cuis, classified as Premier Cru Champagne and in the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Oiry. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are grown in the village of Sézanne. The rest of the vineyard lies further away in Venteuil in the Marne Valley and in Dormans.
