Colin Les Prôles & Chétivins Millésime Extra Brut Champagne Premier Cru 2006


Bearing the name of two ancient vines Les Prôles & Chétivins that compose it, this wine should be tasted immediately or stored for a few years. An ideal accompaniment to dishes such as oysters, foie-gras or almond financier. This wine also received a silver award from ELLE in the ‘concours des vins’ .


100% Chardonnay from Les Prôles & Chétivins, Vertus Premier Cru Soil and subsoil: white silty chalk and flint. Vine age: over 60 years. This champagne is dosed at 3 g/l.

Tasting Notes

The olfactory universe is reminiscent of vintage wines. Aromas of fresh bread, hazelnut and tobacco are supported by an elegant woody expression. The nose then reveals notes of elegant maturity, with candied fruit, dried figs, caramel and quince paste. A subtle floral touch completes the ensemble.

The palate is quite different from the nose, expressing frank tension from the outset. A beautiful salinity then settles in as the tasting progresses. The mid-palate is astonishing, revealing notes of mocha and chocolate, reminiscent of the fullness felt on the nose.

Meet the Grower: Champagne Colin

Women pioneered the Colin Champagne vineyard, which is now run by brothers Richard and Romain Colin. The passion for vines and wine began with their grandmothers Geneviève Prieur and Marie Louise Radet who both inherited vines from their parents. But the family’s first winegrower dates back to 1829 with Constant Piéton, the great grandfather of Geneviève Prieur, Richard’s and Romain’s maternal grandmother.


The harvest, hand-picked when the grapes reach perfect maturity, is then taken to a traditional wooden Coquard press as well as a pneumatic press on the property. A few months in casks give the wines time to oxygenate slowly.

At Champagne Colin, the wines are aged on the lees for at least double the minimum time required and for more than 6 months after disgorgement. Each plot is vinified separately to allow each of our terroirs to fully express its character. Thanks to these traditional methods tending vines and crafting wines, Champagne Colin champagnes are marked by finesse and elegance, and typical of the Côte des Blancs’ greatest vineyards.

The Estate

Most of the 10-hectare estate is planted with Chardonnay – the king of grape varieties in the Blanc de blancs area of Champagne, France – in the prestigious Côte des Blancs in Vertus, Bergères-les-Vertus and Cuis, classified as Premier Cru Champagne and in the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Oiry. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are grown in the village of Sézanne. The rest of the vineyard lies further away in Venteuil in the Marne Valley and in Dormans.
