Colin Cuvée Castille Rosé Champagne Brut Premier Cru

This Rosé, an original Côte des Blancs blend, is a champagne for lovers with its colour evoking a world of tender, sweet romanticism.

90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir Red Wine. It combines 60% of grapes of the year with 40% of reserve wines. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. Aged on lees: 18-30 months.

This champagne is dosed at 9gr/l.

Tasting Notes

It’s delicate on the nose with berry aromas (raspberry, grenadine) opening the show. Next come floral notes such as violet, peony and hyacinth. Sleek elegance leads into indulgence with spices such as clove and pepper.

The aromas of stewed strawberries and berries hit the palate first. They melt into red citrus fruit such as blood orange. The middle and finish are delicately sharp with notes of liquorice, a touch of menthol and orange blossom.

Serve with lamb cutlets, berry zabaglione, fresh goat’s cheese, strawberry tiramisu, a classic sponge cake etc.

Meet the Grower: Champagne Colin

Women pioneered the Colin Champagne vineyard, which is now run by brothers Richard and Romain Colin. The passion for vines and wine began with their grandmothers Geneviève Prieur and Marie Louise Radet who both inherited vines from their parents. But the family’s first winegrower dates back to 1829 with Constant Piéton, the great grandfather of Geneviève Prieur, Richard’s and Romain’s maternal grandmother.

The harvest, hand-picked when the grapes reach perfect maturity, is then taken to a traditional wooden Coquard press as well as a pneumatic press on the property. A few months in casks give the wines time to oxygenate slowly.

At Champagne Colin, the wines are aged on the lees for at least double the minimum time required and for more than 6 months after disgorgement. Each plot is vinified separately to allow each of our terroirs to fully express its character. Thanks to these traditional methods tending vines and crafting wines, Champagne Colin champagnes are marked by finesse and elegance, and typical of the Côte des Blancs’ greatest vineyards.

The Estate

Most of the 10-hectare estate is planted with Chardonnay – the king of grape varieties in the Blanc de blancs area of Champagne, France – in the prestigious Côte des Blancs in Vertus, Bergères-les-Vertus and Cuis, classified as Premier Cru Champagne and in the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Oiry. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are grown in the village of Sézanne. The rest of the vineyard lies further away in Venteuil in the Marne Valley and in Dormans.
