Damien Coutelas embodies the eighth generation leading this esteemed family-run Champagne house, established in 1809 by Louis Victor Coutelas. After completing his studies in viticulture and oenology in Avize, Damien took over the estate in 2005. He initiated the meticulous vinification of the estate’s 50 parcels separately, gaining an in-depth understanding of each one.
The vineyards, spanning 7 hectares, feature vines aged between 30 and 60 years and are planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. They are situated across Champagne’s three main regions: the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs.
With a strong focus on soil health, the estate practices precise and careful viticulture to ensure optimal harvests in both quality and balance. This approach respects time-honored traditions while embracing innovation and forward-thinking methods.
Since early 2020, the estate has adhered to organic farming principles and holds the prestigious HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification, further underscoring its commitment to sustainable viticulture.
